First Day of School

Today was H's first day of kindergarten. I went in this morning to wake her up and asked if anyone in her room was going to kindergarten today. With her eyes still closed, she raised her hand and got a huge grin on her face. So we ate breakfast and got dressed (She was very concerned that she didn't have a cell phone to go in the cell phone holder on her backpack). Then, the whole family got in the car and drove her to school.

We didn't stay long and I held it together until we were on our way out to the car. It was really tough seeing her standing on the playground all by herself not knowing anyone. That really was the hardest part and I think if she had known some of the other kids I wouldn't have been crying leaving her there. As we were getting in the car K said, "I'm gonna miss H."

Fast forward to 1:15...We headed out to the bus stop to meet the bus. When it finally came I could see her through the window. She was so sweaty her hair was matted to her face, but she was happy. She loved school. She tells everyone it was great and she it so excited to go back tomorrow.

  1. You know, I thought the first day of school would easier for me with each passing year...nope.

Glad you all survived and that H had a great first day!

  2. Wasn't it hard? I cried the night before. But she loved school too. I thought it would be easier today, but it feels just as painful. It's probably just because she's my only one. I hope this gets easier. Is Amberly in her class?

  3. Aubrey, Amberly isn't in her class. They still eat lunch at the same time and ride the bus home together, though.

  4. Oh my goodness, I am so nervous for Kenz and Skyler to start on Monday, it is hard when they don't know anyone yet. SHe really looks so grown up. I hated that Skyler and Gage had to endure the super hot bus last year, then the cold bus in the winter. She si so cute, hope it is still going great for her. How are you feeling with your preg. and all?

  5. That's really exciting... But, I don't think I could have left her alone with no friends. On the other hand I'm sure you were glad that you've got one out of the house for a little while anyway. ; )

  6. When did she get old enough to go to school? Honestly the last time I was her...she was 3 years old. Gosh it has been way too long. Thank goodness for blogs!
