This week is Spirit Week at Hailey's school. They schedule it to coincide with Dr. Seuss' birthday and each day's theme comes from one of his books. We found out about it Monday (as in the first day of Spirit Week).
Monday was hat day (The Cat in the Hat), but since we didn't know Hailey didn't get to wear a hat.
Tuesday was Read Across America Day and they were supposed to dress up as their favorite book character. Hailey was Eloise for Halloween so this should've been easy, right? Wrong. She wore her skirt to church on Sunday and didn't put it in the hamper so it didn't get washed. Not only that, I had an ironing mishap on Sunday with her white shirt and it was out of commission as well. So, no Eloise.
Today is crazy sock day for Fox in Socks. The only socks Hailey has are no-show socks. I figured I could use my morning walk and head up to Walmart and get her a cheap-o pair of crazy socks. No such luck. Can you believe they had NO crazy socks for little girls? Not one single pair. Luckily, my friend Ammanda said she had a pair of socks and some trim that I could have to make Hailey a pair of crazy socks. I got home from my walk and started on the socks. I used the glue gun to put the trim on to the socks. They looked great. Then we went to put them on. The socks wouldn't even go over all of her toes. Apparently, I needed to stretch the socks while I glued the trim on. I tried to get them to stretch a little, but it didn't work. I told Hailey she would just have to wear mismatched socks and that would have to be crazy enough. She was VERY disappointed and began crying. I was desperate. I thought of Nathan's argyle socks. At this point, I really didn't care that they would be too big. Besides, that would just add to their craziness, right? Hailey loved them. She walked out the door one happy little girl.
These are the socks that didn't work.
Here is Hailey with her crazy socks.
Tomorrow is green day for Green Eggs and Ham. We have that one taken care of with a green outfit.
Friday is "wear a shirt that tells somewhere you've been" day for Oh, the Places You'll Go. Unfortunately, we don't buy souvenir shirts for our kids. We are going to stretch this one a little and she'll wear her Coyotes hockey shirt since she has been to a Coyotes game.
