Can you believe May is over? Where do the days go? The other day N and I went to see Indiana Jones. We haven't been to the movies in...oh...forever. As we were walking in we started talking about the price. We went to a matinee and it was still 15 bucks! Here's a snipet from our conversation:
Me: "Man, I remember when a matinee was $4 and a regular movie was $6."
N: "Yeah, me too."
Me: "Oy! We're turning into those people."
N: "What people?"
Me: "You know, the kind that say, 'I remember when a movie was 4 bucks and gas was 99¢'"
N: "Oh. Those people."
I knew I was getting old, but I really sounded like it during that conversation. By the way--didn't so much care for the movie. Guess I'm not really an alien kind of girl.
Speaking of aliens. I finished The Host on Wednesday. It took me an entire week to read it. It just didn't capture my attention the way the Twilight Series did. I guess I liked it alright, but I thought it was slow in the beginning (meaning hard to follow until I understood what was going on) and at the end. In the middle I found myself torn with what I wanted to happen. I don't know why, but the name Wanda bugged me the whole time I was reading. I'm sure I'd read a sequel (I'd like to find out if the humans ever reclaim Earth and what happens with all the love connections), but I've heard Stephenie Meyer has said she doesn't want to write a sequel. We'll see.

We had the SAME conversation about the movies!!! and I got so mad reading the host that I gave up. I loved twilight so much, I couldnt get used to it being a different story. Everyone says that it was a hard read. It was for me too.
ReplyDeleteI've been 'reading' The Host since the day it came out. I'm at about page 30 and I really think I won't ever finish it. I've had a really hard time getting into it. I miss Edward too much. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe thought leaving CA would mean cheaper movies...yeah, not so much.
I didn't like Indiana Jones either. The aliens were just weird! Oh well.. there is always the awesome ride at Disneyland. ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new pics at the top of your blog!
ReplyDeleteI too had a VERY difficult time making my way through The Host...took me 'til abou 3/4 of the way through to "get into" it a bit. I've heard there maybe a sequel where all the loose ends in the love connections are tied up...might be an interesting read. Over all, yeah, this wasn't one of my favorites--guess I'm not much for science fiction!
A: You are so funny! I don't know who Wanda is because I haven't read any books in FOREVER but that's funny that the name distracted you while you were reading.
ReplyDeleteTime to read... When do you find time to read? How do you keep children off of you when you read or not fall asleep?
