Emergency...shmergency!

First a little story.

The other day I got R dressed in this shirt (the one she is wearing in the picture). After I got it on her, K says, "She looks like a tablecloth!" Maybe I should rethink her Halloween costume.

Okay, now on to the real reason for this post.

It was just your average Saturday afternoon and N had just left for the Priesthood session. I started to make some salsa and the kids were all playing (except for R who was taking a nap). Then there was a crash of some sort. I vaguely remember hearing K's big Tonka dump truck in the crash. M was crying and I noticed this gash on his jaw. I wiped it off and saw that it was kind-of deep and about an inch long.

I called my mom to see if she could come stay with the other kids so I could take M to the ER. No answer. Then I thought, "Why am I calling my mom when Kelli is like 2 minutes away?" Kelli said she'd be right over.

Then, I wondered where the closest hospital was. I called 3 sisters in my ward and one friend and none of them were home. When Kelli got there, we decided which hospital was closest and M and I were off. Oh wait, right at this time R woke up and was screaming because she was hungry. Luckily, Kelli fed her.

We get to the ER at 6:30 and we wait. And wait. And wait. At 7:00 they call us back and get all of M's info. They take us to an ER room and we wait some more. The doctor came in and looked at M and decided he could do Dermabond because it was a nice clean cut. So, we wait some more and they finally get him all glued. M got an otter pop because he did so well (he literally did not move while they were gluing him). We finally got checked out and were on our way home when I noticed that M had pulled the dermabond off. We were about 3 minutes away from the hospital so I turned around and went back. They took us back pretty quickly and I got kind of chewed out by the doctor:

Dr: What happened, Mom?

Me: He pulled the glue off.

Dr: I told you he has to leave it alone.

Me: Well, I was driving. There wasn't much I could do.

Dr: Didn't he have his band-aid on?

Me: Umm, yeah that was off before we even got to the car.

Dr: Then put another one on.

Me (thinking): M-kay, because I just happen to carry huge band-aids around with me wherever I go.

He glued him back up and then the nurse put another band-aid on followed by some type of glue and some cloth tape. M held perfectly still, but no otter pop this time. We made it home with only a little bit of the cloth coming off.

Hopefully he will leave it alone long enough for it to heal.

Oh, yeah. N wanted me to make sure everyone knew that that is pizza sauce on M's face and not blood.
