In case anyone was wondering why I've been MIA for a week or so, here you go:
On April 6 I had my wisdom teeth pulled--2 "regular" extractions (I guess that's what you'd call it) and 1 impacted. I was doing okay at first, but then the pain got really bad. REALLY bad. My jaw was throbbing constantly and it ached all the time. I was taking vicodin and 800mg ibuprofen round the clock just to get some relief. Now, maybe I'm dumb for not calling the dentist about it, but I've never had my wisdom teeth pulled before. I thought I was just talking too much and not eating soft enough foods.
So, on the 16th I went in to get 3 (and that is just on one side!) cavities filled. The dentist says it's no wonder I've been in pain. Apparently, I have 2 dry sockets. Yay me! So he packed them with a clove paste and it was instant relief. Not even kidding. I could've cried I was so happy. Unfortunately, I think my sockets didn't clot again because I am feeling it again--and I'm out of vicodin. I think I might have to go back on Monday. Plus my fillings are really rough and driving me nuts. My tongue can't seem to leave them alone and it is getting raw from the rough edges.

So, that said...H stayed home from school on Tuesday and Wednesday with a fever. She went back to school on Thursday and then on Friday around 2pm I got a call from her teacher. H had gone to the nurse complaining that her ear hurt. The nurse gave her ibuprofen and sent her back to class because she didn't have a fever. Now, H was crying saying she couldn't take it anymore. So I went to pick her up and when she came out of class she was happy and didn't seem to be in any pain at all. Around 6:30 her ear started hurting again.
At the same time, R started crying and I couldn't calm her down. She cried until she became hoarse. I suspected she had the same thing H had since R had a fever a couple nights ago and she is congested. I called the peds office and left a message so I could get both girls in first thing this morning. And then we proceeded to have a horrible night. Horrible is actually an understatement. H was up at least 4 times, one involved me having to change her sheets because she spilled her water all over.
The peds office called this morning and told us to be there at 9am. $80 later we have 4 ear infections (one of which involves a perforated ear drum(H)), 1 red throat (R) and 3 prescriptions. And now it looks like M might be headed in the same direction!
As if that weren't enough...K has been having accidents like nobody's business. I don't know what to do with him!
Now you're all caught up.

Man that is a BAD week! I hope you all get better and soon.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a fun week!!! Hope things are better soon.
ReplyDeleteOh SO sorry! That is rough! I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled in November and it was miserable. I ended up with 2 dry sockets too. It was awful. But I had a clue something wasn't right because I was taking way more pain medication than I do even after having a c-section so I was able to get relief much sooner than you did. Hope they pack it again for you. Sorry about the sick kids too. I feel extra bad for H. That must be awful. Good luck!
